Tournament rules director Lord Hunt today threw out an application by Magpie defender Mal Shivnan to use a softball bat in place of his driver in next week’s JWMGC.Apparently “Blue-boy” got a feel for the bat during a late night faecal incident in Queenstown some years ago and now prefers the full wood in place of the wood head. Burgess Makes History

History was made at the 2007 JWMGC in Whangamata when perennial tail-ender Tim Burgess became the only player to win the team event twice.
